When someone clicks a tracked link in your email, a tiny redirect happens behind the scenes — and a click is counted. Here's the full flow.
A tracking pixel is a tiny, invisible image (usually 1×1 pixel) embedded in an email. When your email client loads that image, it pings a server — telling it the email was opened. Mailstelligent uses a more reliable approach: redirect-based click tracking. Every tracking URL you create is a short redirect link. When someone clicks it, our server counts the click and instantly sends them to your destination. This works even when images are blocked in the recipient's email client.
In your Mailstelligent dashboard, paste your destination URL and select the template. We generate a short redirect link — something like mailstelligent.com/t/abc123.
They see your link in their email inbox. It looks like a normal URL. They click it — their browser sends a request to Mailstelligent's tracking server.
Our server records the event — which link was clicked, which template it belongs to, and the timestamp. The click count increments on your dashboard in real time.
The server sends a 302 redirect response — the browser instantly forwards them to your original destination URL. The whole process takes under 100ms. The recipient never notices.
